Our story

Why we started

It started with a simple question: why is Europe building its AI future on American infrastructure?

In late 2024, Simon hit that wall while bringing AI into sensitive environments. In 2025 we founded Melious to answer it.

Almost everything built with AI today depends on a handful of companies outside Europe. We think that has to change, and that Europe can do more than catch up. The world is looking for AI that stays open and that you can rely on. If we connect what Europe already has, it can lead.

Our vision

Cheap, fast and reliable AI under European control.

We imagine a Europe that doesn't have to choose between the best AI and control over its own data. Models that run on clean energy and European infrastructure, outside the reach of the US CLOUD Act, and are simply there when you need them. Our goal is to become Europe's AI backbone, and from there the world's trusted home for open models, wherever they were built. Europe's trust, available to the world.
