Auto top-up

Refill your credits automatically, or get an email, when your balance drops below a threshold

Auto top-up watches your credit balance and acts when it drops below a threshold you pick: it either charges your saved card for a fixed amount, or sends you an email.

It exists so a long-running job, an agent loop, or a production app doesn't stop at 3 a.m. because the balance hit zero. It's off until you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time.

Two modes

You pick one. Both use the same threshold.

ModeWhen your balance drops below the thresholdNeeds a card
AutomaticWe charge your saved card and add a fixed amount of creditsYes
WarnWe email you. Nothing is chargedNo

Warn is the "I'd like to decide myself" option. You won't get the same warning over and over — we send at most one a day while the balance stays low.

Auto top-up watches your credits balance only. Energy refills on its own and isn't topped up — see Pricing for which balance a request is paid from.

Turn it on

Auto top-up lives on the Auto top-up tab of your billing page. Turn on the switch, then:

  1. Choose Auto top-up (Automatic) or Warn me.
  2. Set the threshold. Whole euros, between €5 and €10,000.
  3. For Automatic: set the top-up amount (same range) and pick a saved card.
  4. For Automatic: tick the box that lets us charge that card without asking each time.
  5. Save.

We ask for that permission every time you switch Automatic on. Changing the threshold, amount, or card while it stays on doesn't ask again.

What Automatic needs

A saved card. Automatic works with cards only. If you don't have one saved, the tab has an Add method button.

Complete billing information. Every automatic top-up gets an invoice, exactly like a manual one, so it needs the same details you'd enter at checkout. If something's missing, saving is refused with a link to your billing information.

Being allowed to buy credits. If you're in an organization but not one of its managers, the organization manages your credits, so Automatic isn't available to you. Warn still is.

When it tops up

  • We charge your card the top-up amount plus the service fee and VAT — the same price as buying those credits by hand. One top-up can't be more than €10,000 in total.
  • The credits land as soon as the payment is confirmed.
  • You get an email confirming the automatic top-up, and an invoice, like any credit purchase.

There's at most one automatic top-up per hour. If your workload burns through a top-up faster than that, pick a bigger amount.

Pauses

When a top-up can't or shouldn't go through, auto top-up pauses instead of switching off. Your settings stay, the tab shows the reason, and we email you. Your account keeps working while paused; nothing refills it until you resume.

ReasonWhat to do
Your card was declined three times in a rowCheck or replace your card, then edit and save
A spending or purchase limit was reachedFollow the hint on the tab, then edit and save
Billing information is incompleteComplete it, then edit and save
A payment was disputed with your bankContact support@melious.ai

A pause never lifts on its own — saving the settings again is what resumes it. That's deliberate: we'd rather you look at what went wrong than have us quietly keep trying your card.

Turn it off

Turn off the switch on the Auto top-up tab. That always works. Your threshold, amount, and card stay saved for next time.

While Automatic uses a card, you can't remove that card from your payment methods. Turn auto top-up off, or switch it to another card, first.

Which balance a request draws from, and what credits cost: Pricing. How the energy balance refills: Energy.
